Appointment of Jelly Associates by Uniq Prepared FoodsJelly Associates were employed to look after all financial and contractual aspects of a £2.70 million project comprising a proportion of new build and extensive major refurbishment of an existing working food factory.
The project was required to be constructed whilst maintaining production throughout the rest of the factory. This included a ‘high care’ food production facility immediately adjacent to where major building works were required to take place.
Jelly Associates obtained competitive quotations for the project, dealt with all contractual documentation and the appointment of a principal contractor. They managed the financial control of the project throughout including dealing with the major problem of the principal contractor going into administration during the contract works. The danger that this might happen was noticed several weeks before the event and Jelly Associates were able to take measures on behalf of Uniq Prepared Foods to minimise the effect on the project.
Once the principal contractor had gone into administration, Jelly Associates and Uniq’s in house project manager then ran the remainder of the project between them with Uniq Prepared Foods acting as principal contractor. The project finished on time and within budget with very few specialist subcontractors losing money due to the demise of the principal contractor. This was important to Uniq Prepared Foods as a number of these specialist subcontractors provide a regular service to Uniq and they wished to maintain that relationship.
